Operations Management Essentials

Every organisation, regardless of sector or size, depends on its operations to deliver value. Understanding how operations work, how they are managed and how they can be improved is therefore one of the most transferable and immediately useful capabilities a junior professional can develop.

Participants will examine the input-process-output model that underpins all operational thinking, explore the different types of transformation processes organisations use to create value, and develop a working understanding of the roles and responsibilities of operations managers. The course closes by examining operations strategy, giving participants the context to connect day-to-day operational decisions to longer-term organisational goals. Throughout, the course integrates how AI and digital tools are transforming operational management in practice.

This course is derived from LIBT's CMI-accredited Undergraduate Diploma in Business and Management. Participants who complete this certificate and wish to gain academic credit may submit the module assignment through LIBT's academic pathway. Completing the full diploma makes you eligible for CMI Foundation Chartered Manager status and provides direct entry into the final year of an undergraduate degree at one of LIBT's university partners.
