Land, Property & Real Estate Law

Property transactions are among the most legally complex and financially significant decisions individuals and organisations make. Yet many professionals working in property, real estate and facilities management navigate this complexity without a structured understanding of the legal framework governing land and its interests. This course provides that foundation, giving participants a working command of land law that is immediately applicable to their professional context.

Participants will examine the nature of legal and equitable interests in land, explore the principles and practical implications of proprietary estoppel, and develop a clear understanding of easements and freehold covenants as key mechanisms shaping land use. The course closes with a focused treatment of adverse possession, equipping participants to understand the rights and protections available to registered and unregistered landowners. Throughout, the course addresses current developments including digital land registration, PropTech and the evolving legal landscape for property professionals.

This course is derived from LIBT's Extended Diploma in Law. Participants who complete this certificate and wish to gain academic credit may submit the module assignment through LIBT's academic pathway. Completing the full diploma provides direct entry into the final year of an undergraduate law degree at one of LIBT's university partners.
