About this course

Why This Course

Ethical failures in finance rarely happen because professionals do not know the rules. They happen because the organisational culture, leadership behaviours and governance structures that should prevent them are weak or absent. This course tackles that problem at its root, equipping senior finance professionals to lead with integrity and build the conditions for ethical practice across their teams and organisations.

Participants will examine the relationship between leadership, organisational values and corporate governance, explore how ethical stances shape financial practice and reporting, and develop practical frameworks for embedding accountability and trust into finance functions. The course draws on current professional standards including the IESBA Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, FRC Ethical Standard and ICAEW Code of Ethics, grounding the content in the frameworks finance professionals are actually expected to uphold.

This course is aligned with the CMI recognised Postgraduate (Level 7) Diploma in Accounting and Finance. Participants who complete this certificate and wish to progress to the full diploma may do so through LIBT's structured pathway, with this course counting towards the relevant module requirements.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course relevant to finance professionals outside the UK?
Yes. While the course references UK frameworks such as the FRC Ethical Standard and UK Bribery Act, the IESBA Code of Ethics is adopted in over 130 countries and the governance principles covered apply across all major financial jurisdictions. In-house delivery can incorporate jurisdiction-specific regulatory requirements where needed.
How does this course differ from a standard compliance training programme?
Compliance training tells professionals what the rules are. This course goes further, examining why ethical failures occur, how leadership and culture enable or prevent them, and how finance professionals can build the organisational conditions for sustained ethical practice. It is a leadership development course as much as a governance one.
Can this course be delivered for our organisation's finance and compliance teams?
Yes. LIBT offers bespoke in-house delivery for corporate clients, with governance scenarios and ethical dilemma case studies contextualised to your sector, regulatory environment and organisational culture. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
