Chartered Management Institute
This course is based on the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management (Level 7), which is accredited by the CMI towards gaining the Chartered Manager status.
Build the ethical leadership, professional integrity and governance capability that senior finance professionals need to operate responsibly in complex, regulated environments. This course equips participants to embed ethical standards into financial practice, lead with accountability and strengthen organisational integrity from within the finance function.
Ethical failures in finance rarely happen because professionals do not know the rules. They happen because the organisational culture, leadership behaviours and governance structures that should prevent them are weak or absent. This course tackles that problem at its root, equipping senior finance professionals to lead with integrity and build the conditions for ethical practice across their teams and organisations.
Participants will examine the relationship between leadership, organisational values and corporate governance, explore how ethical stances shape financial practice and reporting, and develop practical frameworks for embedding accountability and trust into finance functions. The course draws on current professional standards including the IESBA Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, FRC Ethical Standard and ICAEW Code of Ethics, grounding the content in the frameworks finance professionals are actually expected to uphold.
This course is aligned with the CMI recognised Postgraduate (Level 7) Diploma in Accounting and Finance. Participants who complete this certificate and wish to progress to the full diploma may do so through LIBT's structured pathway, with this course counting towards the relevant module requirements.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Critically evaluate the relationship between leadership, ethics and corporate governance in financial practice.
Apply the IESBA Code of Ethics, FRC Ethical Standard and ICAEW Code of Ethics to real financial governance scenarios.
Assess how organisational culture and leadership behaviour drive or undermine ethical financial practice.
Design strategies to embed accountability, transparency and trust within the finance function.
Identify and resolve ethical dilemmas in financial reporting, governance and decision-making with structured, principled approaches.

We have worked with organisations across the private, public and third sectors, from regional government bodies and development agencies to multinational corporations and financial institutions. Our programmes have been delivered across four continents, and our trainers bring deep practitioner experience to every cohort they work with.
We do not treat corporate training as a commodity. Every programme we deliver, whether to an individual learner or a cohort of fifty senior leaders, is held to the same standard: rigorous in content, practical in application and relevant to the challenges leaders face today.
LIBT is a full member of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), the UK's independent body responsible for safeguarding standards in higher education. This membership confirms that our programmes, processes and academic practices meet the standards expected of a recognised UK higher education provider - an assurance that matters to corporate clients evaluating training providers for senior and executive cohorts.
LIBT holds accreditation and endorsement from the UK's most respected professional bodies.
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) accredits and endorses a range of LIBT programmes, confirming they meet CMI's standards for management and leadership education. The Association for Project Management (APM) has recognised LIBT's Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management under its Pathway 2 Recognised Assessment for the Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) designation, placing LIBT among a select group of institutions whose assessment meets APM's professional standard.
