This course is based on the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management (Level 7), which is accredited by the CMI towards gaining the Chartered Manager status.
Build a confident, practical command of employment law, HR compliance frameworks and ethical people practice. This course equips HR professionals and managers with the legal knowledge and regulatory capability to make sound, defensible people decisions, manage employment risk and lead compliant HR practice across complex and international organisations.

Employment law is one of the highest-risk areas of management practice. Poorly handled disciplinaries, non-compliant recruitment processes, inadequate redundancy procedures and unaddressed harassment claims all carry significant legal, financial and reputational consequences. Yet many managers and HR professionals make people decisions daily without a clear understanding of the legal framework governing them.
Participants will develop a working command of the UK Employment Rights Act, Equality Act 2010 and key EU and international labour standards, examine how ethical decision-making frameworks apply to real HR dilemmas, and build the procedural knowledge to manage the full range of employment relations challenges confidently and compliantly. The course also addresses how AI-powered HR tools are creating new compliance risks around data privacy, algorithmic bias and automated decision-making, equipping participants to govern HR technology responsibly.
This course is aligned with the CMI Endorsed Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. Participants who complete this certificate and wish to progress to the full diploma may do so through LIBT's structured pathway, with this course counting towards the relevant module requirements.
