The LLB (Hons) Top-Up degree is designed to provide essential training for individuals aspiring to become successful solicitors or barristers.

Upon completing the degree, graduates will be equipped with:

  • a broad and comprehensive understanding of how law operates and the inner workings of legal practice

If you have formal qualifications, you will need one of the following:

  • Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma in Law OR Qualifi Level 4 Diploma in Law and Qualifi Level 5 Diploma in Law (combined).
  • IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5.

If you do not have formal qualifications, that is okay too. We also welcome applicants who have:

  • Applicants without a Level 5 Diploma but holding significant legal experience may be considered for an alternative accelerated pathway on a case-by-case basis.

Who is eligible to apply for this LLB top-up?
This final year is open to graduates of the Qualifi Level 5 Extended Diploma in Law, or holders of both the Qualifi Level 4 and Level 5 Diploma in Law. Your diploma provides direct entry to the final year of the LLB (Hons). Applicants without a Level 5 Diploma but holding significant legal experience may also be considered for an alternative pathway on a case-by-case basis.
What will I study in the final year?
The final year comprises six modules: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Graduate Professional Skills and Employability, Law for Entrepreneurs, Company Law, and International Humanitarian and Criminal Law, each worth 20 credits, plus a Project worth 40 credits. The programme emphasises practical legal skills including mooting, mediation, negotiation, and arbitration. All modules are delivered 100% online and total 120 credits.
What does completing this LLB give me and can I progress further?
On successful completion, you are awarded the LLB (Hons) Law degree by the University of Lancashire, a qualifying law degree providing the academic basis to proceed to barrister or solicitor training. Graduates are also eligible to progress directly to the Qualifi Level 7 Diploma in International Business Law, allowing continued legal specialisation at postgraduate level.
