Programme Overview

The QUALIFI Level 4/5 Diploma in Education and Training is made up of 20 modules and 156 credits. On completion of the modules, students will be given access to the assignments. In order to complete the course students are required to complete 130 hours of teaching practice. 

The Level 4 Qualification provides the essential knowledge and basic understanding of the roles and responsibilities of teaching staff. It attempts to empower trainee teachers to use initial and diagnostic assessments and plans to deliver inclusive teaching and learning, assess learning, and use appropriate resources to support effective learning so that they become aspiring teachers. The optional units cover a wide range of teaching contexts and give skills required to further achieve their opportunities in academics and in career. 

Level 4 consists of about 10 modules which takes 6 months to complete and carries 36 credits in total and a learner needs a minimum of 33 credits for the qualification. These consists of 5 mandatory modules and 6 electives. Learners must complete all mandatory units to achieve 21 credits and then choose a minimum of 15 credits from the optional units. The Level 4 modules and assignments of this course are equivalent to the first year of a University Degree. In order to complete the qualification, the student must cover 30 hours of teaching practice in level 4. 

Upon the successful completion of the level 4 qualification, the student can proceed to Qualifi Level 5 Diploma academically. 

The Level 5 Qualification covers essential knowledge and understanding that teaching staff need in the education and training sectors. It consists of 10 modules and it should take 6 months to complete the level 5 Diploma. The level 5 Diploma carries 120 credits in total. Learners must complete all compulsory units to achieve 75 credits and a minimum of 45 credits from the electives to complete the qualification. In addition to that 100 hours of teaching practice is also compulsory. Upon the successful completion of the level 5 qualification, the student can proceed to Qualifi Level 6 qualification; or can join a university to complete an undergraduate degree academically. The learner is also able to proceed into employment in an associated profession. 

The complete programme itself is made up of 10 interactive modules and written assignments, with approximately 40 guided learning hours per module. All modules have an additional 30-50 learning hours of optional materials that comprise of recommended exercises, recommended readings, Internet resources, and self-testing exercises. You will also have access to 24/7 support, tutoring, and a variety of other support mechanisms.

Entry Requirements
Entry to Level 4 Diploma in Education and Training

Learners aged 19 and above

Candidates should be qualified, capable or experienced in the subject which they plan. It is expected that applicants have personal skills necessary to complete the academic and other requirements of the programme

Applicants need to demonstrate the possibility to learn at minimum academic level 4 – the same level of study as the first year of a degree

All trainee teachers joining this qualification programme has a prerequisite to undertake an initial evaluation of aptitudes in maths, English and ICT. Their development needs should be recorded and, where applicable, an action plan agreed

Entry to Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Teaching

Applicants for the Diploma in Education and Teaching need to be qualified and or experienced in the subject which they intend to teach

Applicants need to demonstrate the potential to study at minimum academic Level 5 – the same level of study as the second year of a degree course

Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
This covers the basic roles of a teacher, correlations of the professional relationships and responsibilities he/she holds.
Delivering Education and Training
Inclusive teaching and learning approaches and internal /external factors influencing the effective delivery are covered in this unit.
Using Resources for Education and Training
This module covers teacher’s role as a facilitator and explore the effective use of resources.
Assessing Learners in Education and Training
Teacher’s role as an evaluator is discussed in this unit.
Managing Learning and Development in Groups
The themes discussed in this module include motivational strategies, behaviour management, provision of advice as well as deliver strategies to facilitate learning in groups.
Optional Units
Planning to Meet the Needs of Learners in Education and Training
This module covers individual learning goals.
Equality and Diversity
The learner is motivated to understand how to work with others and how to review and adapt own practice to be inclusive and promote equality
Assessing Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
This module is about evaluating the learner’s performance.
Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
This module is about evaluating the learner’s performance in occupational knowledge and skills.
Internally Assure the Internal Quality of Assessment
Learner’s performance evaluation with the assessment standards are discussed in this module.
Understanding the Principles and Practices of the internal Quality Assurance of Assessment
This module covers the key concepts and principles, functions of internal quality assurance in learning and development, planning and preparing internal quality assurance activities and monitoring.

Mandatory Units
Theories, Principles and Models in Education and Training
This module covers the fundamentals of education and training.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training
This module includes skills relating to teaching, learning, assessments, individual learning goals and inclusive learning.
Developing Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training
The achievement of Unit 1: Theories, Principles and Models in Education and Training, is a prerequisite for taking this unit. 20 hours of teaching must be also covered during the period of study in this unit. This module covers knowledge, understanding and skills relating to developing teaching, learning, assessment in education and training in addition to investigating practice.
Professional Practice and Development in Education and Training
This module embarks on wider professional practice in education consider professionalism and professional values.
Optional Units
Action Research
Nature and purpose of action research, conducting action research andpresenting the outcomes are covered in this unit.

Develop and Prepare Resources for Learning and Development
This module aims at preparing resources to support learning and development to cater the learner needs.
Developing, Using and Organising Resources in a Specialist Area
This module is about developing, using, and organising resources within a specialist subject, vocational or any another area.
Equality and Diversity
This module promotes the two themes: fairness and value diversity.
Inclusive Practice
This module covers the roles and responsibilities relating to inclusive practice, how to create and maintain an inclusive learning environment and how to evaluate their own inclusive practice.
Assure the Quality of Assessment Internally
This module aims at improving the learner’s skills as a learning & development practitioner.
Manage Learning and Development in Groups
Main aim this module is to enable the learner to manage learning and development in groups where the range of activities are employed to promote peer learning.
Understanding the Principles and Practices of the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment
The main areas of study include context and principles of internal quality assurance, planning the internal quality assurance of assessment, techniques and criteria for monitoring the quality of assessment internally, maintaining and improving the quality of internal assessment, managing information, and following legal and good practice requirements.
